remember this post?
probably not... that was a long time ago... BUT i'm sure you have heard of the Uniform Project through many other blogs.
If you haven't heard, the project was for one girl to wear the same dress every day for 365 days in order to raise funds for the Akanksha foundation.
and congrats to Sheena because she reached her 365 day mark yesterday!

Last night, my youth group and I went to Pangea Fest, a festival held at Santa Barbara City College that celebrates the world as one and encourages youth activism. There were vendors, representatives from Invisible Children and musical performances like Dominic Balli
Oh! and they were handing out these balloon noisemakers (obnoxious little devices) and the look on my youth pastor's daughter's face when she realized what it did was just hilarious.
Check out these Fresh Prince-esque I found! I personally like mine the best... i thought it was very Jazz-like. :)
oh... and I had to kick myself for lacking money that night when I found a Clash shirt.

I've been thinking about starting a bucket list.... one that will grow slowly over time, just as I think of things that I really want to do before I die. So I thought, what better place to make a list than here on my blog? Hence, here lies the first in a long sporadic series (not in any order of importance):
no. 1: shave a portion of my head
now, you might be thinking, "woaaa what a way to start off a bucketlist!"
yea, I know... but this is something that I actually think quite often.
especially when i'm feeling rather angsty.
(i know, not a real word. but it describes me quite well)

yes, that is right. It is National Record Store Day!
so I hope y'all supported your local indie record store day today by going out and buying some new vinyl!
what i brought home:
I had been debating whether or not to dish out $20+ bucks for this album. I guess i made my decision :) and a good decision too.

yesterday was TOMS One Day Without Shoes!
it was definitely a worthwhile experience... that's for sure.
I walked to my old high school (which I no longer go to because I'm in Middle College) with my youth group and spent the day there.
7am, 50º outside...
we walked 3.5 miles to school
and made it! but don't let the smiles fool you.... our feet hurt...
Let me tell ya, we got a lot of questions as to why we were barefoot
and the school administration did not like that we were.
Suspension threats were flying everywhere!
YES... they were going to suspend us for not wearing shoes.
They didn't even care to know what the cause was
Even I got suspension threats and I didn't even go to that school! absurd.
As of now, its the morning later and I'm definitely suffering the consequences from
going a full day barefoot. My feet have blisters, my knees hurt, parts of my feet are
totally raw from rubbing against the pavement.... I could go on.
but long story short:
I will never take shoes for granted ever again.
p.s. this song came to mind yesterday :)

this past week, I was flipping through Newsweek magazine and found myself in the back of the magazine (the Arts section, duh...) reading an article titled "Iraq 'n' Roll." The article was following up on the band Acrassicauda, the only Iraqi Metal band. When I read that a documentary had been filmed about them called "Heavy Metal in Baghdad," I had to look into it. I've always been a Metal fan, not a huge listener, but I definitely have a lot of respect for the genre... and let me tell you, this movie totally changed my perspective.
So if you are a music fan, I highly suggest it. You can even watch it on YouTube!
you hear that? you can watch it for FREE!

sorry for my blogging hiatus, i've been working to set up a blog for my youth group and i took a trip to visit some family for 3 days.
BUT over those three days, i got my hair done! much needed.
what cha' think?
it's kinda strange because i've been blonde my whole life.
but i like it :)
but i like it :)
p.s. thank you Alexandra Hoover of Alex's Wonderland for the sunshine award! unfortunatley, i am horrible at selecting favorites (i have commitment issues ;] ) so i won't be selecting 12 to give the award to. Because I believe you ALL deserve this award!

...EASTER! i don't know if you remember... but i've been without french fries and tortilla chips (my two addictions) for almost 40 days and on easter, i can finally eat them! yummm. (i may as well mention, that my school makes amazing french fries and the scent of them fills the entire campus.. ugh!)
...and of course, a Day Without Shoes. Which also happens to be the same day my lil' sister performs the lead role in her school play... aww!
