toms: a day without shoes

you may have noticed the new button in the sidebar, yes? WELL... on April 8, 2010, TOMS shoes is having a national "no shoes" day in acknowledgement of all of the kids that are forced to go through life without shoes. I am truly excited about this event, i'm going barefoot for sure! If you want to join the movement and/or learn more about the event, click the button in the right side bar.

Michael Gondry, director of favorite movies such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the Science of Sleep comes a new movie– The Thorn in the Heart. However, this one is different; this one is real. This new movie is focuses around Gondry's own family and the inspiration they provided for his acclaimed films.

it's the first offical day of spring.
and how is it celebrated you may ask?
well first, we go shopping buy some new records (like The Cars' selftitled),
and go to yogurt land.
we look at pretty pictures.
(pictures via weheartit)

and finally,
we have a movie night dedicated
to watching Little Dorrit.

or at least that is how I celebrate the first day of Spring.
How about you?

upcoming [rock] movies

i LOVE movies about music.
there's just something about the music and cinema realms colliding in order to make one spectacular piece of art.

shout out!

I just wanted to pop by ye ol' blog and give a SHOUT OUT! to all my new (and old) followers! because I lurveee ya. I truly, truly do. STAY AWESOME!

also, I have noticed that when you awesome peeps follow my blog, I can't always see your links because blogger doesn't have direct links to see people's "full profile." i can't be the only one with this laaaame problem! SO, leave your link in the comments below and i'll be sure to check out y'alls blogs!

by the way.... sorry for the appearance. I just got back from seeing Remember Me... which was surprisingly good. (not a Robert Pattinson fan... he reminds me of mr. tumnus.... is that weird? yea, i thought so. but he has funny facial hair! i can't help it!)

let's play 218,792 pick-up!

that's right. 218,792 cards. world record.
i think the words "HOLY CRAP!" come to mind?
kudos to US architect Bryan Berg for doing this!

Rebecca Ward for Kate Spade

I saw this on design*sponge today and went GASP! I mean, how awesome are these tape installations by Rebecca Ward for Kate Spade? I think it would be totally amazing to do something like this in a home. What do you think?

here are some of Rebecca Ward's other installations that I found pretty nifty...

RIP Corey Haim

I could not believe my eyes this morning as I was woken up by a text message which read "Corey Haim died! :(" to which my mind responded to with a big, loud "WHAAAAT!?" seriously, my heart skipped a beat. And I know, I know.... I wasn't even alive when he was popular. but sometimes, I think I was born 10 years later than I really should have been and that's probably why I'm such a big 80's movie buff. But it is just so sad when someone like Corey battles something their entire life and ends up losing... heartbreaking, really.... but i'll keep on watching his movies and never forget his cute little face :)

new video from She & Him!

this made me want summer. like... NOW. i want watermelon and arizona ice tea and popsicles and day trips to magic mountain.... and i just want to be her. i bet her life is like summer everyday. and i mean... REALLY? how do you look so cute, zooey?
 here's a goodnight hug & kiss!

first of all, thanks for all the concern about my crashed computer... and yes, i had withdrawals. haha! When my dad took my computer in and found out that all of the insides needed to be replaced I think my heart stopped a little. ouch!
anywho, it's been a week. a WEEK without my computer and I'm finally back! and SO many wonderful things happened... maybe I should go without a computer more often.... hahahaha, PSYCH.

but anyways... let us recap:
1. I FINALLY got to see my friends after a month. a month! that's a long time!
we hung out at their school,
went on a joy ride,
while singing along to Taylor the Latte Boy and various Passion Pitt songs... (don't we just look adorable?... not!)
ate like teenagers,
and saw a cute old man with a cute old car!
2. I got my Record Player and stereo set up!
and it sound sooo good.
4. I've compiled a list of records that I want :) there's way more than pictured here.
5. I went thrift store shopping and found this cuuute thermos
well, that's the highlights! hope your week was as good as mine was... and i gotta tell ya, it's good to be back! Hopefully I can catch up on reading some of y'alls blogs too :)

gasp! :0

this morning... my computer... crashed. gasp!
via weheartit.

um, my computer is my life. now, I don't want to sound like one of those people... but its true! ALL of my homework has to be typed... no exceptions.

anywho... enough whining. i just wanted to inform you of my predicament (don't you love that word?) in case I can't blog for a couple days (unless I steal my mom's computer for a few minutes, like now). But I wanted to give a quick shout to all of my new (and old) bloggers! so... "HEYYY!"
 haha :)

mmm! mmm!

first of all, let me confess something.
i LOVE sweet potato pie. way more than pumpkin pie. way more.
yesterday, we had a celebration for the ending of Black History Month at my church with gospel music, homemade fried chicken, black eyed peas, cornbread and homemade sweet potato pies! oh yes! i just about died! soooo good.
and my family got to bring one of the extra pies home, so of course I had a slice tonight. (while eating a piece i told my dad that I was going to have it at my wedding... he laughed :] )

on another note, me and my dad found out today that his stereo doesn't work :( which means it's going to be a while 'till I hear my records. bummer... but! ima keep on shopping for that vinyl! why not, right?

happy march!

february is finally over! for a short month, it lasted a heck of a long time...
via weheart it.

this story was destined to be turned into a Tim Burton film... and i'm not gonna lie... I never like the Walt Disney version because I couldn't understand why they would turn a Lewis Carroll book into a kid's movie...? just never made sense to me.
what do you think?
